screening camps as part of cancer prevention campaigns.
Cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, yet early detection and lifestyle changes can prevent many cases. To address this, Cancare Foundation conducts free cancer screening programs in villages around Chennai, aiming to identify risk factors, detect early-stage cancer, and raise awareness. Each program screens 80-100 people, providing complete oral examinations as well as breast and gynecological exams. Suspicious cases receive further evaluation with handheld ultrasound equipment. All services are free, maintaining confidentiality. Cancare Foundation runs at least two such camps monthly, supported by various organizations. Over the past two years, 40 camps have been conducted with each camp costing Rs. 70,000 on average.
